Free EV charging in WA: don’t miss out!

A great surprise on a recent road trip from Port Angeles, WA to Portland, OR: All the West Coast Electric Highway chargers in Washington were free!! As gas prices soared, it was super cool to hang out and charge up for free. With gas costing $5 a gallon and more… the stops to charge were all the more worth it.

Note: To find out where EV charging stations are always check PlugShare. You can learn if stations are closed, or, in this case, you might find a note about free charging!

People get wierd when you tell them you have to stop for 30 minutes to charge up on trips. But you can see some cool things (and walk the dog!). One of my favorite I-5 stops is the quiet town of Castle Rock. The EVgo charger is at a grocery store, but you can also walk to the riverside trail, or into a charming downtown where you’ll find the best coffeeshop! So those of you who hesitiate in getting an EV because of the charging time— rethink: slow down, visit places you never would have. And give that dog a walk. Zero emmissions travel is worth it. Enjoy!

Castle Rock, WA- great charging stop!
