Olympic National Park winter speaker series Feb. 14

american dipper bird

Dipper birds are so fun to watch in streams and rivers.

February’s topic for this free online learning series is all about relationships —- the amazing dipper bird and our persevering salmon. Is it a love story? The lectures are a partnership between Olympic National Park and the North Olympic Library System. You can zoom in on February 14, 7pm, from this library link.

The Feb. 14 lecture features the work of an avian wildlife ecologist who has researched dippers along four streams in areas with and without salmon to determine the impact salmon have on the dippers’ survival. His research includes the Elwha River, before and after dam removal.

A great Valentines Day topic: how species interrelate and help each other thrive. Now that’s a love story.
