Carefree, car-free Columbia River Gorge

gorgebus

The stunning waterfalls, hiking and cycling trails of the Columbia River Gorge are less than an hour away from Portland and Southwest Washington region.

Sadly, every year traffic jams up and the Multnomah Falls scenic area is filled with idling cars.  Mighty Multnomah Falls attracts two million visitors every year!

Go car free!

But why drive?  The Columbia Gorge Express provides a simple way to care for the earth. The buses travel from Portland to Hood River with stops at Cascade Locks and Multnomah Falls. Businesses provide discounts for riders.  You can easily bring a bike or access trails.

Want more ideas for car-less travel? Columbia Gorge Car Free has put together itineraries for you to see this spectacular area, and do good for the planet at the same time.

Protect this place

Columbia Riverkeeper protects the river by keeping tabs on water quality, salmon, oil trains and more. Volunteer opportunities!
